The M2 and M1 motorways provide good access to Belfast by road from both the North and South of the city. Two airports serve Belfast, Belfast International Airport which offers flights to and from major cities around the world, and Belfast City Airport which is smaller and offers flights to and from the UK and Europe. Belfast is easily accessed by ferry from ports in both England and Scotland. The train station in Belfast provides direct connections to other towns and cities in Northern Ireland.

The city of Belfast has been occupied since the Bronze Age and visitors can still visit the remains of the Iron Age hill forts. The 'Good Friday Agreement' which was brought about following ceasefires in 1998 has enabled the city to move on from its notorious turbulent past and it has become a popular tourist destination. At the centre of Belfast is the City Hall, which provides a focal point for the city. Other 'must sees' for visitors include The Golden Mile, St Anne's Cathedral and Donegall Square, which hosts one of the few green spaces in the centre of Belfast.
