Some major UK routes meet at Birmingham, making it easy to get to from the South and the North via the M5, M6, M1, M40, and M42. Birmingham International Airport is situated 8 miles to the East of Birmingham and provides flights to many areas of the globe. Birmingham New Street is the main line station and is located in the city centre, providing direct connections to many areas of the country.

Birmingham's History, Culture and Attractions
Historically Birmingham was a thriving industrial centre. The canal system developed there in the late 18th century and today Birmingham has more canals than Venice. In recent years much of Birmingham centre has been redeveloped. It is a shopper's paradise with many of the major retailers through to local shops catering for a niche market. Other attractions include the NEC on the outskirts of Birmingham, Symphony Hall, which provides a range of live musical experiences throughout the year, and Edgbaston Cricket ground, which lies to the South West of the city centre. Cadbury's factory and museum also lies on the outskirts.

There are three main areas in Birmingham that have a concentration of hotels and places to stay. These are in the city centre, at Five Ways Roundabout and the area around the airport and NEC.
