Manchester is located in the North West of England, about 30 miles to the East of Liverpool and halfway between London and Edinburgh.

Getting to Manchester

Manchester is easily accessed by rail, road, and air. The M6 provides good access from the North and the South and the M60 ring road allows easy access from whichever direction you are coming in from. There are two main train stations - Manchester Victoria, which mainly serves the North, and Manchester Piccadilly which largely serves the South. Manchester airport is located on the south side of the city, just off the M56 and caters for both short and long haul destinations.

Manchester's earliest origins date back a couple of thousand years and it was well known as an industrial centre during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Salford Quays is also well worth a visit and includes attractions such as a museum dedicated to the artist Lowry. Manchester has much to offer musically, with a number of Jazz clubs, popular groups performing gigs, and the Bridgewater Hall.
